Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) welcome anyone working on a fishing vessel or shoreside, including those in the aquaculture sector, to enrol now for the 2024 Man Overboard Challenge.

These FREE one-day experiences will be hosted at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork and at the Errigal Training Centre, Falcarragh, Co. Donegal.
The sessions are designed to highlight the importance of wearing a personal floatation device (PFD) and provide the opportunity to practice Man Overboard recovery scenarios in the specialist environmental pools.

The event comprises of a short classroom-based learning followed by a pool-based session.
This is a challenging session which will test your abilities in a controlled environment while replicating some of the harsh conditions experienced at sea.

Observers are also welcome to attend, if they do not wish to participate in the pool sessions.
This joint initiative is delivered by Frankie Horne, RNLI’s Commercial Fishing Safety Manager. It aims to raise awareness and promote positive behaviours towards wearing lifejackets (also known as PFDs) at sea.

Come and join us for the events and learn how to keep yourself and your crew safe.
